6 months....worst blogger EVER!!

So I just realized it has been 6 months since I last blogged. My only excuse...I've been busy. But haven't we all??? We have had an unusually busy 6 months with me starting a new, tough year of residency, Cam in full swing with his new job, and of course, MORE weddings. (I think our count is up to 7 for the year and one of us as been in all but 1 of those weddings..and we missed 2 Deacon family weddings!!!) We really have had a great 2010, and I've posted a bunch of pics to recap the last 6 months...thought that was more fun than words. I hope each of you has a blessed 2011! Happy New Year!


In July we went to Grayton Beach with Cam's family....26 people in one house! We had a blast and I was thankful be able to take off work for it!

In September, Cam's cousin Adam married Shelbi Catt. Such a fun wedding and family get together!

We also visited Cam's dad for his birthday and his grandad, Dey, for his 90th birthday. All 3 of them have September birthdays! Love this pic....

We enjoyed football season and some great Hog wins! We went to Dallas in October to watch them play Texas A&M with Erik and Lindsey.

And Fayetteville in October....

For Halloween, I went as Cam and he went as me! It was pretty funny! And the Allbrittons...Drew was a creepy clown and Anna was Michael Jackson...quite funny as well!

In November, a bunch of our friends played in a Wiffle Ball tournament benefiting the Miracle League. Our team was called Wiffle House.....we were terrible but had such a good time playing!

We watched the Piggies play in LR during Thanksgiving weekend. I love this pic of my college besties.!

At the beginning of December, we went to Springfield for our good friend, Andy Ross's wedding. We had fun with a bunch of our college friends!

And the holidays brought tacky sweaters and gifts, good friends, family, and unfortunately, call for me! :( I was on call on Christmas this year, so my parents brought Christmas to us in Little Rock. One of the perks of being in LR on Christmas Eve was that we got to attend the Allbritton's annual Christmas Eve party....tons of fun with great friends. I didn't get to spend much of the day at home on Christmas day because I was out taking care of patients but the time I did get with my family was wonderful. We went to see Cam's family the day after Christmas and had a wonderful visit with them as well! Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos at any of the family Christmas this year :(. But there are some sweet ones of the pups!

Free at Last and Let Freedom Ring

Well intern year is officially O.V.E.R! To say that I am excited is an understatement!! However, finishing up was not a breeze because I spent my last Medicine month in the ICU. Oh yeah, and on top of that, I was on call the last night of the month/year before the new interns started...FUN! So, I spent the night on call on June 30 and then woke up bright and early at the hospital on July 1, went home briefly to freshen up, and then went back to start my first day of Ophthalmology! Normally, I would have been really furious and in a horrible mood because of it, but I was so excited about finishing my Medicine year and equally as exicted about embarking on my new adventure that I really didn't care! Now that intern year is over, I can say that I worked really hard, learned alot about "doctoring" and maybe even more importantly about myself. I would NEVER do it again, but in many ways, I'm glad I did! Now I am starting a new adventure in the world of Ophthalmology for the next 3 years! And boy, in the first few days, I can already tell that the learning curve is a steep one. I know its going to be a lot of reading/studying and plenty of frustration, but I really am excited about it. And even if I have my face buried in a book when I get off work, I know I would rather be doing that than spending 30 hour shifts in the hospital....I know my husband would rather have it that way too!

This weekend we spent the 4th of July with great friends on the lake in Hot Springs! As always, we had a blast making new memories with our very best friends. It was a fun, but suprisingly relaxing weekend at the same time. Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!!

4 years

4 years ago today, I married my best friend. It really seems like just yesterday we were engaged!! So much has changed but then again so much hasn't. In many ways, we are the same goofy kids that fell in love in college almost 9 years ago...but I guess we have grown up a little too!!! I know without a doubt I would not have accomplished the things I have without Cam's support. He is my biggest fan, and I thank God everyday for blessing my life with him. I can't wait for the next 4...better yet, the next 40 years!! Happy Anniversary Cambo!

Lately and a New Addition

Well...yet again, I have been absent from the blogging world for a while now. I still keep up with everyone else but I can't seem to find the time to blog myself. We have had plenty of things going on lately, but that's just it...with my crazy work schedule and weddings lately, there hasn't been any extra time. This weekend ended Wedding season 2010 for the Deacon family. And let me tell you, I haven't had so much fun spending time with all my friends and family in a really long time. I had been looking forward to all of these weddings for so long, and they didn't disappoint. Now MOST of my very best friends are married, and I think my days of being a bridesmaid are close to the end. Its a little bitter sweet!

The thing I loved most about each wedding was the individuality of each of them. Even though they were all close together on the calendar and had many of the same faces present....each was unique and totally represented the bride's personality PERFECTLY!! I could probably have multiple posts on each wedding with the amount of pictures that I took (not to mention pics from the luncheons and rehearsals as well), but I will just share some of my favorites!

And here is the new addition to our family......

His name is Opie! (as in the kid off the Andy Griffith Show)

When we were at Barrett and Robert's wedding (which was on their farm outside of Morrilton, AR), this little guy made his way to the party. He was there all night and was just sooooo sad. He would let people pet him, but he was very scared. He had obviously been neglected (or had run away from home) because he was covered in ticks/fleas and was very malnourished. I must admit I was a little disturbed by the critters on him (and I feel bad about feeling that way), but I have a very soft heart and could not leave this poor guy at the farm alone. We took him to our cabin that night with the intention of giving him to CARE here in Little Rock (its a "no kill" animal adoption agency). However, once we got him home and cleaned up, we couldn't give him away! He and our lab, Bailey, get along great and become better friends everyday. Here they are on a recent trip to the lake! What sweet babies!

Anyway, Opie has now had all of his shots and will get "fixed" next week. The vet thinks he is about 1-2 years old and that he is a Beagle and a few kinds of terrier mixed....a true Heinz 57. Even though he had so many ticks on him and was so skinny, the vet said that he actually is in pretty good health. With a little TLC, he has come a long way. He is the sweetest little guy and LOVES attention. I think God brought him to us for a reason, and I am so glad that he did. Our family feels a little more complete but not too crowded for more (but definitely no more dogs for awhile!)

My apologies for the long post...I had A LOT to say! Take care, and hopefully it won't be too long until my next post. 28 more days, and I will no longer be an intern!!! Can't wait!

Where has the time gone??

Well, I have obviously been MIA from the blogging world for a couple of months now. Partly because we have been so busy with the Holidays, wedding showers and various other events. And partly because I have been so exhausted lately that I can't even think about what I want to write!! We have also suffered a family tragedy in the past couple of months when Cam's uncle very unexpectedly passed away a few weeks before Christmas. For those of you who don't know Cam's family, they are a very close knit group....more so than most families I know. They all live within a couple of blocks of each other and do EVERYTHING together. The holidays were more than difficult without Uncle Rob, and I hurt for all of them everyday knowing the magnitude of this loss for his/our family. Please pray that they find peace during this difficult time.

I feel like so much has happened in the past couple of months, but I can't possibly blog about all of it. So, I will just post some pictures to fill you in...
